File Manager for Nissan — Android Automotive

The Nissan ARIYA (2022+) is one of the first Nissan vehicles with Google Built-in — Android Automotive OS embedded into the car's infotainment system. This is the full Android platform, not phone mirroring, which means you can install Android apps including AnExplorer directly from the in-car Play Store.

Important: Standard NissanConnect is NOT Android Automotive. It connects via Android Auto (phone mirroring). While Android Auto blocks complex file management apps, AnExplorer smartly connects as a media player. This allows you to explore your phone's memory, USB drives, and network folders on the NissanConnect screen to listen to music and—once Google permits it soon—watch videos while parked. To actually manage files locally, you need the ARIYA.

Install AnExplorer on Nissan

  1. In your ARIYA, tap the Play Store icon in the infotainment
  2. Search for AnExplorer
  3. Tap Install — completes over vehicle WiFi or connected data plan
  4. AnExplorer appears in the app launcher

Alternative — APK sideloading:

  1. Download the APK from the download page on your phone
  2. Transfer to the ARIYA via USB drive
  3. Open AnExplorer → navigate to the APK → tap to install

Manage USB Files in the Nissan ARIYA

The ARIYA has multiple USB ports in the centre console. AnExplorer reads USB-A drives directly:

  1. Plug a USB-A drive (FAT32 or exFAT) into the centre console port
  2. Open AnExplorer → USB Storage
  3. Browse music playlists, video files, documents, or dashcam clips
  4. Copy or move files between USB storage and internal storage

Transfer Files from Phone to ARIYA

  1. Open AnExplorer on your Android phone → WiFi Share
  2. Select music, podcasts, or navigation data
  3. On the ARIYA infotainment, open AnExplorer → Network → WiFi Receive
  4. Accept — transfer completes over vehicle WiFi hotspot or home WiFi

The ARIYA includes a built-in data plan in many markets. AnExplorer connects to:

  • Dropbox — music and documents
  • OneDrive — Microsoft files
  • Box — business storage
  • Nextcloud — self-hosted cloud
